The theme of this year's Concurrent Disorders Conference is "Beyond Crisis: Working on the Continuum of Care."
This dynamic, virtual event will bring together professionals from around the province, the country, and the world to share knowledge and learn more about how best to address the complex intersection of mental health and substance use disorders.
"Successfully treating people with concurrent disorders requires coordination and collaboration between professionals in a range of sectors, from health care, to social work, to housing," says Dr. Vijay Seethapathy, chief medical officer with BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services (BCMHSUS) and the lead conference organizer.
"Our annual concurrent disorders conference is an opportunity to bring everyone together to share knowledge, including the important perspectives of people living with mental health and substance use issues, their families, and to learn about the Indigenous experience with health care in our province and country," adds Dr. Seethapathy.
This free conference serves as a platform for professionals, researchers, policymakers, and advocates to explore innovative approaches, share best practices, and collaborate on strategies that extend beyond crisis intervention.
It is a space to discuss the most up-to-date evidence from research, combined with clinical expertise from more than 30 treatment providers from Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and beyond.
Jennifer Duff, chief operating officer, BCMHSUS, will provide opening remarks. Dr. Vijay Seethapathy will be one of the keynote speakers. We'll also hear from BCMHSUS experts as part of workshops, lightning talks, and panel discussion.
Register for the free, virtual B.C. Concurrent Disorders Conference, to be held on March 28 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
