About the Heartwood Centre for Women

Who we treat

The Heartwood Centre for Women is for women (including transgendered women), who are residents of British Columbia (BC), aged 19 or older with substance dependence, mental health concerns (including trauma) and primary health issues. Learn more about treatment at Heartwood.

Access to the program is by referral only and requires the following:

  • A recent physical exam
  • A recent psychiatric assessment
  • Before- and after-care support by a health care provider
  • Parent / caregiver involvement

The healthcare team

Heartwood is a robust program offering a full continuum of residential treatment, including stabilization. The interdisciplinary team is comprised of physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, nurse practitioner, counsellors, social worker, recreation therapist, dietitian, Aboriginal Elders, acupuncturist, expressive art therapist, yoga therapist, spiritual worker and therapeutic garden workers.
