Regional Community Clinics

The Forensic Psychiatric Services Commission (FPSC) ensures that patients throughout British Columbia are supported appropriately with consistent, high-quality mental health programs.
About

In addition to the services provided at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital, services are also provided on an outpatient basis through regional programs coordinated by six community clinics in Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Prince George, Kamloops and Surrey.

Outside of these regional centres, a number of smaller satellite clinics operate out of Dawson Creek, Williams Lake, Vernon, Kelowna, Penticton, Nelson, Castlegar, Campbell River, Courtenay and Duncan.

This includes monitoring the patient's progress in treatment and ensuring that the patient is adhering to the conditions set out in the Disposition Order provided by the BC Review Board.

The regional clinics also conduct assessments that are ordered by the Courts of British Columbia. These assessments include evaluations for fitness to stand trial, evaluations of criminal responsibility (NCRMD) or pre-sentence psychiatric / psychological assessments. They also provide assessment and treatment services for individuals referred by BC Corrections who are subject to a legal order with specific conditions.

These services are coordinated through 6 community clinics covering 3 geographic regions.
