About Research at BCMHSUS
Creating knowledge...Changing minds
BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services (BCMHSUS) is intent on building capacity for research, knowledge exchange and academic teaching in the area of mental health and substance use. Working closely with our academic partners, including the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University, research occurs across all BCMHSUS service provision areas. Researchers, clinical staff, and physicians across BCMHSUS are actively involved in research and education. These activities are intended to support advances in mental health and substance use services province-wide.
BCMHSUS is committed to strengthening capacity for research, knowledge exchange and academic teaching to enhance understanding and skills among service providers, policymakers and the public. Research conducted within our Forensic Psychiatry programs promotes a strong link between research and service delivery through projects in the areas of risk assessment, patient engagement, stigma, and aggression.
